Cute Cuddly Coo Cat

Cute Cuddly Coo Cat

This little guy has to be the sweetest, most adorable kitty ever!

And to think he was almost rejected by me when my friend and I  found him at the shelter.  He was eight years old then.  He had already been rejected by a thoughtless couple in favor of their about
- to - be - born baby.

I know, it sounds unfeeling of me to call them thoughtless.  But it has caused me unspeakable angst when I think about it.  Maybe that is why he seems to love me so much, constantly sits or lays on my lap or sleeps at the foot of my bed.  He would, sleep on my pillow if I let him.  But the line has to be drawn somewhere!

A childless woman really has very little to say to someone who has a baby.  Many people have uncomfortable thoughts of having a cat around their newborn child.  There surely are "old wives tales" about cats smothering babies.  So perhaps they bought into them.  Who is to say?

We may never know the reasoning behind their choice.  What ever the reasoning may have been or why is of little consequence.  The end result was that Coo ended up on my bed and my lap in my house.  And I am sooooooo happy!  This little kitty-cat brings me much joy, makes me smile and loves me unconditionally!

Once rejected...now a true love of my life!

He arrived at our house about four years ago with his brother Pumpkin, subject of the next blog posting.

Cleaning the Cat Box!

This is my most unfavorite job of owning two gorgeous felines.  These two kitty-cats are the definite loves of my life.  Playing cat toy games  with one or both, petting Pumpkin, holding Coo on my lap, brushing either of them, cats are pure joy to me!  I do like dogs, but cats are quiet.  Quiet suits my lifestyle.

However, when the time arrives to clean their box, my tummy and mind do flip-flops.

My two cat loves are Coo and Pumpkin; that is Cute Cuddly Compliant Coo and Precious Peachy Prince Pumpkin, pictured below.  You can probably guess which one is Pumpkin.  Pumpkins are orange.  He is the orange one.

Now we are in complete disagreement about Pumpkin's color.  Orange is not now, nor ever has been, my personal favorite color.  Yes, it is a beautiful color and widely admired by many.  But, my favorite colors are red, blue, black and white, quite different from orange.  Now back to the subject at hand, cleanng the cat box!  YUCK!

I try to clean it every two weeks, that seems reasonable to me.  I scoop it three times a day and add some fresh litter, so it is relatively clean.  My black and white sweetheart Coo uses it to deposit his wastes many more than Pumpkin.  Yet Pumpkin is Mr. Fastidious.  He has an absolute dislike for 'his' box when it begins to have the slightest bad smell.

He will not use it, sniffs it and walks away. He then sits in the adjacent room and looks back and forth form me to the room which has the box.  Then I know I had better get it cleaned, FAST!

My usual proceedure:

 1)  dump the old litter into a heavy black plastic bag, leaving it open just in case

 2)  run water into the box, usually in the bathtub for additional space

 3)  a brush is used to scrape some tough spots

 4)  then it is rinsed and dried with an old towel

 5)  after the box area has been swept, the box has dried, it is returned its normal spot

 6)   baking soda is added to the bottom of the box before adding 3 inches of fresh litter

 7)   now the box is ready for when the cats get awake after their afternoon nap!

And I am ready for mine z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z!

It really was not all that bad, it is just another thing to do, on my seemingly endless TO-DO LIST!

Cat Loves of My Life

Toby, a truly loveable cat who adored being on Gail's lap.  Well, anyone's lap would be OK, as long as it was there and he could be on there.  Toby is in kitty Heaven now, but he lit up our lives for many years!

Coo is another cat that likes laps and having a snooze or a chin rub while there. Cuddly Cozy Cute Coo, often called Coo-Cat or Cooster.
Posted by PicasaDo admit that I wold rather have chosen another cat than this cutie-pie?  He is so loving and incomparable.

A third cat and by far not least in our lives is Pumpkin.   His full name is Precious Peachy Prince Pumpkin.  He is beautiflly marked and is the gold-amber color of a golden retriever dog.  Many refer to his color as orange, but we couldn't disagree more.  His personality is golden as well.  He loves to "talk" by meowing when someone says his name.  Pumpkin's fluffy white bib and feet enhance the tawny color of his body.
